Journal Entry: January 14th 2018 – First Journal Entry of 2018

Challenging Start of the New Year

This is my first journal entry of the year. The transition from 2017 to 2018 has been a bit rough for me. I had to move out from my previous apartment a day before Christmas. A day before new year’s eve I was announced that a member of my closest family had been hospitalized since early November. My family did not want to inform me since I am far away with limited resources. Thank to God the situation is back to a more normal state now, and no one is in the hospital anymore. I’ve also been experiencing other types of family related issues, with different members of my family. I don’t want to share the details here, but both situations have been affecting my morale in a very negative way for the past weeks.

I’ve been having a hard time adapting to a more comfortable environment.

It took me almost three weeks to adapt to my new living situation. It’s very intriguing to me, because my current place is so much more comfortable than the previous place I lived in. I can actually get really good sleep and have access to day light here. Most importantly the apartment isn’t facing the street, therefore the amount of stressing noise coming from the outside of the apartment is drastically reduced. To have a better understanding of why it took me so long to fall back on my feet, I’ve made a list of the things that have changed in my life since the end of December 2017

  • Moving from Belgrano to Colegiales (Moving from a dark noisy, a bit uncomfortable place to a quiet, bright and extremely comfortable place)
  • Having lesser access to high quality, cheaper organic produce since Alma Zen has been on vacation
  • I have been going less to the Barrancas of Belgrano and Parque de 3 de Febrero
  • For the first time I started to consider to leave Argentina and move to a different country
  • Various family related issues
  • The weather being extremely hot and sometimes humid during the day

The reason why it took me so long to adapt to my new place and truly kick off 2018 is probably due to a combination of all these factors, and maybe also due to more factors that I can’t perceive at the moment. I’m sure some weigh more that others. I think, after being a bit down for three weeks, I feel better now, and I can be back at getting fully productive and move on with my life.

Aiming to Simplify my Food Intake

Since Alma Zen has been on vacation for almost a month, and my other options to get organic produce are more expensive and a bit more far away from where I currently live, I decided to eat lesser amounts of food, eat more fruits and vegetables, and overall eat more simple. I’ve been only dry-fasting on Sundays. I could observe that for the past nine days, I haven’t eaten out and I haven’t eaten cooked meals until yesterday. I could also observe that during the period when I was eating solely raw fruits and vegetables, my kidneys would filter less frequently and would get rid of a lesser amount of cellular waste. Yesterday my energy, and my ability to concentrate was getting extremely low, so I decided to eat out. I went to Buenos Aires Verde and had a raw dish. This is probably the healthiest food one can find eating out in Buenos Aires. I enjoyed my meal, but I perceived certain elements of the food being a bit too salty or too sugary. Probably because I had been eating very simple for the past nine days or so. When I left the restaurant, although I was feeling full, I was still not 100% satisfied. I was craving for some animal origin food. I hesitated to get a burger at Dean and Dennys, but finally decided to go to this place called Tea Connection. It’s a chain, they are not as cutting edge as B.A Verde when it comes to healthier food options, but one can feel that they are making an effort. I got a cooked meal over there. Grilled salmon with some mash potatoes, and grilled vegetables. There were also some feta cheese cubes on my plate, but I did not eat any since I try to not consume dairy products. Later on when I got back home I had some pistachios. I had also been avoiding eating nuts during the nine days when eating more simple. After the pistachios I had a whole 70 gr of 80% cacao of Dr Cacao chocolate bar with no sugar. And I finished up with some watermelon. I went to bed extremely late. It was about 5:00 AM. I woke up at noon this morning. Feeling extremely energized, and inspired with a high desire to move forward with my life. As if the new year had finally started for me.

More Findings on Kidney Filtration

When I went to the bathroom, I could observe that my kidneys were able to filter a huge amount of cellular waste. This observation raises two questions. Were my kidneys able to filter heavily because I ate plenty of more complicated food yesterday? Or, since I ate more comforting food which increased my energy, my kidneys were able to function and filter more dynamically? A combination of both may also be affecting factors. An other way to interpret the situation would be to consider the fact that since during the nine days when I ate raw and simple, my body had a chance to detoxify, and with the arrival of heavier, more energizing complex food, it was able to start the elimination process. As I mentioned several times on this blog already, kidney filtration still remains quite mysterious to me, but as I progress in my journey, I am gathering more and more information on it. Eventually at one point I will have a good understanding of how kidney filtration works. The most important thing for me at this point, is that I’ve been able to get rid of a lot of cellular waste since I started monitoring my urine around May 2017. Regardless of the root reasons why I’ve been able to get rid of such a big amount of cellular waste, I can only see it as something positive for my overall health.
