Three Week Challenges 101

The Lab

This starting point could be seen as a sort of a laboratory to quit old habits and embrace new ones. The approach of challenging myself into quitting things, or doing things differently from my routine, allows me to experiment and learn more about myself and see how my body functions under different circumstances. The idea is to embrace or quit a habit for at least three weeks. The most important part for me is to approach the challenge period as a game and try to have fun in the process. In this post you’ll find the stories of two challenges which started as three week ones, but the enjoyment I got out of them was such that they ended up lasting a longer period of time. After the stories, I have listed the things I was able to quit temporarily, and the things I was able to quit for good.

Journal Entry: March 4th 2018 – 15 Days of Eating Raw/Plant Based and Oil Free Food

No Oil Diet

This past week I kept eating raw/plant based oil and nut free until Friday. Which sums up of me eating as clean as I can for about 15 days in a row. I did my second salt flush on Wednesday. On Friday, I allowed myself to eat out at this organic restaurant named Bio. Everything I ate there was plant based, but I had some cooked wild rice and also some whole grain bread.

Increased Energy Levels

I’ve been feeling extremely good every single day of the week, and eating some cooked food on Friday boosted my energy levels even more. During the entire week I was able to exercise three times a day everyday. Continue reading

Journal Entry: February 4th 2018 – The Perfect Week

All of a sudden I started to feel amazing

It now has been over 14 days that I am solely eating at home a raw plant based diet. I’ve been avoiding nuts as well. This week has been very different than the previous one, since my energy levels, and productivity were high. My morale also got boosted, partially due to the fact that I finally got started on a new work project as a freelancer. I can say that I’ve been quite active this week. Besides working, I had four workout sessions instead of three including a 30 minute jog each time. I went out for a long walk every day from my apartment in Colegiales to the Parque 3 de ferbero. This represents a daily shirtless walk of at least two hours under the sun.Continue reading

Journal Entry: January 21st 2018 – The Return of Alma Zen and my Work Opportunity

The Importance of Quality Produce

This week in terms of food intake, I can easily say that I’ve been a bit all over the place. I dry-fasted on Sunday as usual, I ate out on Monday twice. I ate at home on Tuesday and Wednesday %100 raw plant based food. For the rest of the week I combined eating out and eating at home.

Alma Zen, my organic grocer are back from vacation. Although they are out of their arcade in Belgrano, they still do home delivery. I ordered a good amount of fruits and vegetables for the week. By Alma Zen being back in business, I think I learned a great deal about the difference between various products which are sold as organic. As I mentioned in my previous post, even though my current living situation is near perfect at the moment, I had a hard time adjusting to my new place and kick start the new year. One of the elements that had changed in my lifestyle was that people running Alma Zen were on summer vacation. Therefore I couldn’t get access to the produce they bring from the province of Buenos Aires three times a week. After a couple days of juicing and making salads with their produce, I was able to get a part of my energy levels back to where I had left a month ago.Continue reading

Journal Entry: December 22nd 2017 – Moving with Romance

December 22nd 2017

Moving

I am in the process of moving into a new place. I decided to move all my belongings by foot from the old apartment to the new one. At first I wasn’t sure if it will be a total waste of time, or on the contrary this out of the ordinary little adventure could make me experience something different. The new and old apartments are 1.1 km / 0.7 mile apart from one an other. The distance separating the two places represents about 15 min of walk. So far I’ve made seven trips back and forth. I have 90% of my belongings in the new apartment already. Today I am going to clean the old apartment so I can do the check out with the old landlord, and recuperate my deposit tomorrow. The new apartment is excellent. It’s not facing the street. I was able to sleep like a baby for the past couple of nights.Continue reading

Journal Entry: December 7th 2017 – Juice-Fast Failure – Lost Opportunity – Getting Fit – Facebook Fast

December 7th 2017

Juice-Fast Failure

After my usual Sunday dry-fast, I got started with a juice-fast on Monday. I wasn’t successful at it. I had a delicious red juice all day long, but around 10:00PM, I started to feel lightheaded and hungry. I decided to listen to my body and not pursue with the juice-fast. As much as I love and feel comfortable with dry-fasting, juice and water fasting do not seem to work for me, at the moment. They make me feel as if I’m always missing something. Whereas with dry-fasting, I feel content and in control.Continue reading

Exercising

Exercising –

Not 101

I did not want to name this starting point Exercising 101. One, because I think that exercising is already way more accepted and integrated to the western culture than the other starting points on this blog. Two, what I actually have been doing as physical exercise, has been out there for several years, if not decades already. I think the added value I can bring as far as exercising goes, lies in the approach of finding the most appropriate way of exercising for oneself. In addition, observing the exercise sessions  as sort of a metrics to evaluate how other starting points are affecting the body.Continue reading
