Journal Entry: February 18th 2018 – Feeling Fantastic and Making Progress

Feeling Fantastic

During the past four weeks I had a raw/plant based diet for the first three, and I mostly ate traditional cooked food during the entire fourth week. I’ve been back to a raw/plant based diet for the past couple of days. Today is Sunday and as usual since March 2017 I am dry-fasting on the seventh day of the week. For the past three weeks, I’ve been feeling fantastic. I am waking up naturally around the same time in the morning, with energy and the will to do things. I believe that the three week raw/plant based diet was very beneficial for me, even though during the first week of eating solely raw/plant based I wasn’t feeling all that good. I also think that taking nuts out of my diet has been helping my digestion and boosting my overall energy levels.

Gut and Skin Relationship

Now that I’ve been back to a raw plant based diet I also want as much as I can take all kinds of oils out of my diet. I’ve been following a person named Rob Stuart on YouTube. He was able to overcome serious skin related diseases with change in his diet. Rob seems to be convinced that the skin health is the reflection of the gut’s health. Continue reading

Journal Entry: January 21st 2018 – The Return of Alma Zen and my Work Opportunity

The Importance of Quality Produce

This week in terms of food intake, I can easily say that I’ve been a bit all over the place. I dry-fasted on Sunday as usual, I ate out on Monday twice. I ate at home on Tuesday and Wednesday %100 raw plant based food. For the rest of the week I combined eating out and eating at home.

Alma Zen, my organic grocer are back from vacation. Although they are out of their arcade in Belgrano, they still do home delivery. I ordered a good amount of fruits and vegetables for the week. By Alma Zen being back in business, I think I learned a great deal about the difference between various products which are sold as organic. As I mentioned in my previous post, even though my current living situation is near perfect at the moment, I had a hard time adjusting to my new place and kick start the new year. One of the elements that had changed in my lifestyle was that people running Alma Zen were on summer vacation. Therefore I couldn’t get access to the produce they bring from the province of Buenos Aires three times a week. After a couple days of juicing and making salads with their produce, I was able to get a part of my energy levels back to where I had left a month ago.Continue reading

Juice-Fast Failure

After my usual Sunday dry-fast, I got started with a juice-fast on Monday. I wasn’t successful at it. I had a delicious red juice all day long, but around 10:00PM, I started to feel lightheaded and hungry. I decided to listen to my body and not pursue with the juice-fast. As much as I love and feel comfortable with dry-fasting, juice and water fasting do not seem to work for me, at the moment. They make me feel as if I’m always missing something. Whereas with dry-fasting, I feel content and in control.Continue reading

Juicing 101 – For A Better Monday Style

Juicing 101

Introduction:

Juicing has been a key element in my journey towards a healthier life-style. It requires some time and money investment. As far as I am concerned, I don’t regret any minute or a single dime I have put into being able to make high quality juices at home. The benefits have surpassed my expectations. To juice, I use a slow juicer, and try to get organic produce. It’s not always possible to get everything organic.  As far as my personal access to organic produce goes here in Buenos AIres, I was able to spot a couple places in Belgrano which sell organic fruits and vegetables. One of them makes the trip directly to the fields in Hudson near La Plata three times a week. This means that on specific days of the week, I am able to juice organic produce that has been harvested a few hours earlier on the same day.Continue reading

The After Breaking my Fast

It has been 34 hours since I’ve broken my nine day dry-fast. The post-fasting experience has been quite different and more challenging than the previous fasting experiences I had so far. I’ve been eliminating huge amount of cellular waste through urination. My urine has been extremely charged. At the end of my previous fasts I also experienced similar situations, but this time around, not only the amount of waste was considerable, but also my kidneys have been able to filter every single time I’ve been going to the bathroom.  I did not have any solid food so far. I’ve been running on freshly extracted juices. I went through at least 20 lemons, since I’ve broken my fast. I was finally able to find some organic ones at Alma Zen. In addition to the lemon juice, I prepared this pretty intense, yet extremely delicious green juice.Continue reading

October 17th 2017

Last Hours

Today is the day I am going to break my nine day dry-fast. In exactly one hour it’s going to be 216 hours that I haven’t had a drop of water nor solid food. I wasn’t planning on breaking the fast right at the 216 hour mark, but I just woke up naturally early this morning. It’s 3:00 AM now.Continue reading

Journal Entry: September 7th 2017 – I’m feeling like a well-oiled machine

September 7th 2017

 I’m feeling like a well-oiled machine.

I haven’t eaten outside of home for the past 12 days. This week I did a dry-fast for 58 hours. To break my fast I had some lemon juice followed by a litter of home made green juice. I did not eat anything solid for 24 hours. The next day, I made the same juice, and drank about the same quantity of that delicious home made green juice. On both days I had about four table spoons of organic coconut oil after finishing my green juice. Later in the afternoon I ate a very simple fruit salad made with organic bananas, grapefruit and shredded dried coconut. For dinner, I prepared some avocado “maki” rolls. Later on that night, I made some hazelnut milk. Before going to bed I had a jar of hazelnut banana milkshake, by blending the hazelnut milk with an organic banana.Continue reading

My Second 7-day Dry-fasting Experience (day by day)

July 30th 2017

I just started a new seven day dry-fast. This is the second time I’m attempting a fast of this length. Yesterday was my birthday. It was a beautiful day in Buenos Aires. Despite winter time here in the southern hemisphere, the weather was warm with moments when I could see and feel the sun through the multiple thin layers of clouds. My main objective on my birthday was to enjoy the day as much as possible.  I decided to not do my regular daily warrior diet on this day. After my jog to the “Lago de Regatas” in “Parque de 3 de Febrero”. I had about 700ml of yellow beat, celery, fennel, apple, orange juice I had saved from the night before. I add garlic, ginger and curcuma to pretty much all my juices. After having my juice, I went out for lunch, and later at night I also had dinner. Probably not the best way to go into a seven day dry-fast, but at least all I ate was of plant origin.Continue reading
